Green bin bags help bpi.recycled products win award April 17th 2009 Recycled polythene products manufacturer, bpi.recycled products, has been named ‘Manufacturer of the Year’ at the 2009 Foodservice Packaging Association (FPA) Awards.
The business, which is part of BPI (British Polythene Industries) picked up the accolade at a ceremony held in March at the Chesford Grange Hotel in Kenilworth, Warwickshire.
In the foodservice arena, its recently introduced Green Sack range is especially popular. These 100% recycled polythene refuse sacks are made with UK farm waste plastics and are reprocessed at UK sites. As such, not only do they divert waste from landfill and keep reusable polythene in circulation, but they also benefit from ultra low product miles and a small carbon footprint.
At the same time, they retain the strength of the original material they’re made from, allowing The Green Sack range to deliver remarkable tear resistance, claims the company.
Picking up the award (which was sponsored by catering disposables distributors, Kavis, and presented by snooker legend, Willie Thorn), Guy Coates, marketing director at bpi.recycled products said: “This is fantastic news. bpi.recycled products, and BPI as a whole, have long been working to show how polythene can be used in an environmentally sensitive way. This award feels like direct recognition of that fact.”
