LCV can mean low carbon vehicle
June 23rd 2008

Citroën’s latest generation of LCVs can run on 30 per cent bio diesel without any modification. To further boost efficiency, virtually all new Berlingo, Dispatch and Relay vans are fitted with Trafficmaster Smartnav, which is claimed to deliver up to 13 per cent fuel savings

As a major LCV supplier Citroën is fully committed to reducing the environmental impact of its vehicles. Today Citroën has one of the widest ranges of low CO2 cars and vans available in the UK – and the company is a two times Greenfleet car manufacturer of the year award winner.

With its latest generation of Euro 4 HDi powered LCVs – which can all be operated on up to 30 per cent bio diesel, without any modification – Citroën can genuinely claim to produce some of the cleanest and most fuel efficient vans available.

As well as providing the benefits of lower emissions, new Citroën vans benefit a business with more efficient operation, lower fuel and other operating costs as well as providing greater crew comfort and safety.

With the launch of the new Nemo and Berlingo, the company now has a complete six-strong range of LCVs which all have Euro 4 HDi, high fuel-efficiency, low emission diesel engines. Dispatch models powered by the 2.0HDi 136hp engine also break new ground by being the first LCVs to be fitted with Citroën’s ultra-clean Diesel Particulate Filter System (DPFS). This reduces particulate emissions to virtually immeasurable levels.

With a tight turning circle, large internal load and high payload, Citroën’s new Nemo is aimed at both urban/suburban businesses, but with high fuel economy, is also suited to longer distance operation or motorway use. Alongside ultra-fuel efficient 1.4HDi 70hp diesel engine or a 1.4i 75hp petrol engine, there is also a SensoDrive version – Citroën’s clutchless, automated manual transmission. This option delivers all the benefits of a conventional automatic transmission, with the fuel economy and low CO2 emissions characteristics of a manual gearbox. Significantly, all 1.4HDi-powered Nemos have CO2 emissions below the critical 120g/km level.

Also, to further boost efficiency and cut fuel and labour costs, virtually all new Berlingo vans as well as the larger Dispatch and Relay vans are the first to be fitted, as standard, with Trafficmaster Smartnav satellite navigation and Trackstar stolen vehicle tracking systems. Owners confirm that with Trafficmaster Smartnav’s effective routing, active traffic management facility and fleet management capability, fuel savings of up to 13 per cent plus associated emissions-reductions benefits can be achieved along with average time savings of up to 4 hours/month/vehicle, which are worth up to £2000 per vehicle/per year.

Citroën also offers a competitively priced Nicholson McLaren Engines (NME) converted Berlingo First 1.4i Dual Fuel (petrol/LPG) van. The Citroën/NME Berlingo dual fuel van is London Congestion Charge exempt as it meets Powershift Band 4 emissions standards.

All Citroën LCVs also offer, dependent on model, up to 25,000mile extended service intervals. Extended service intervals play a key role in cutting expensive and inconvenient time off the road, reducing the use of lubricating oil and a major reduction in the amount of waste oil and used oil filters sent for disposal.

Citroën’s LCV range also includes the UK’s most fuel efficient diesel powered commercial vehicle, the C2 1.4HDi Enterprise van. The C2 Enterprise van proved its unrivalled fuel efficiency in an independent test by a leading magazine, which achieved figures of 82.98mpg – exceptional figures that are matched by ultra-low 113g/km CO2 emissions.
