Why use Electro Chemical Activation (ECA) June 17th 2011 If you are looking for something new and exciting in the world of cleaning the Toucan Eco stands out as a real innovation. Based on the science of electro chemical activation (ECA) this amazing product is the talking point of the industry
Electrochemical activation (ECA) solutions comprising salt, water and electricity are a fully sustainable alternative to petrochemical based products. They are produced on the spot and can claim to be greener and more effective than other synthesised alternatives that use up energy, packaging, and also need transportation to site.
These solutions are very effective when compared to conventional chemical sanitation as many micro-organisms have been shown to build up a tolerance or resistance. ECA solutions exhibit a positive action against all known bacteria, spores, protozoa and fungi.
How can you convert tap water and a little salt into a cleaner and disinfectant? Not only with a mild effect but as powerful as you need to kill a whole range of common pathogens. The answer lies in the conversion of the mineral and water into a combined oxidant that takes on new active properties. Properties that are exactly those needed for a wide range of cleaning applications in a wide range of locations.
Combined with the use of microfibre cloths, the Toucan Eco fluid can be used for cleaning all hard surfaces and fixtures leaving no residue or taint.
Another benefit is that the fluids are produced on the spot. There are no transport costs, no storage costs, and no inventory to manage only a simple and effective device.
For some years there have been larger devices that produce two streams of fluid, a disinfectant and a detergent, from a brine solution but they have been too costly for cleaning companies to install. Now with the cost of oil and other raw ingredients soaring the Toucan Eco and larger devices are available from Centrego as an alternative to conventional chemicals. Will chemicals ever be replaced? Not entirely in our opinion but this is a positive step towards sustainability using two relatively cheap and plentiful ingredients.
Meanwhile back to the Toucan Eco. This clever device developed by Centrego features a special cell in the base of a trigger spray and a jug. These two items come as a set together with the base station, 12v transformer, and a starter pack of salt. You fill the spray or jug with tap water put in the correct amount of salt with the spoon provided and activate the base. There is an immediate reaction between the cell , the water, and the salt and in three minutes the solution is ready to use. The jug is particularly useful as the fluid produced in this can be decanted into trigger sprays or put into a flat mopping system. It’s that simple.
Toucan Ecos have already been seen in offices and healthcentres and enquiries have ranged from hotels and conference centres, to kitchens, and transport systems.
Another feature is that the Toucan Eco is very cost effective. The ingredients used are minimal and the units are priced very competitively.
Award winning
At its debut at the 2011 Cleaning Show the Toucan Eco won the innovation award for the best eco/green product beating many other entrants. This is quite unusual for a new product and shows that the message of green cleaning is finally taking hold. The device also drew the attention of the international cleaning community and Toucan Ecos are now being sent to Scandanavia, Europe, and the Middle East with the USA the next stop. We like the Toucan Eco for its simplicity, its cost effectiveness and not having to worry about the effects of chemicals on our skin and in our environment. We have seen the future and the future is Toucan Eco. |
